Northern Lights Series: Seasonal & Experimental Releases
We will also release seasonal & experimental ciders. The seasonal ciders may be perfect for an upcoming holiday or include some of the favourites based on feedback from our helpful cider tasters. Our experimental releases will be inspired by unique flavour combinations – some with ingredients you may have never heard of, but could be growing in your neighbourhood! Both seasonal and experimental ciders will be paired with a local non-profit where a portion of the profits will be donated.

Our craft cider is inspired by the distinct flavours and culture of the prairies:
Embrace Prairie-style Cider
In our travels and extensive cider tasting (“research”), we have loved exploring the regional flavours that influence cider, from dry British cider, to experimental blends coming out of Portland, to the funky barnyard flavours in France, to the “almost-vinegar” experience in Spain.
We have also found that people in the prairies have a unique palette. Many of us grew up eating sour crabapples and tart raspberries straight off the bush. Others have discovered it later in life at farmer’s markets, at potluck dinners, or when our neighbour has an abundance of produce from their yard to share.
With this in mind, we have developed a locally customized style of cidermaking that embraces the flavours of the prairies.
Make Use of What We Have
We learned this life skill from some very resourceful Babas in our lives!
We are passionate about seeing all the amazing fruit that is already growing in our neighbourhoods be put to good use. Some of the best fruit growing here on the prairies takes extensive processing – we’re looking at you, crabapples! We believe that the BEST way to use this fruit is to make cider.
We have partnered with local organizations with similar goals. Together we want to make a difference in people’s lives, in our community, and in the environment by reducing food waste!
We use ingredients sourced as locally to home as possible – sometimes that means from a tree in the park near the cidery and sometimes that means from local producers. We have an urban orchard in Edmonton and a more traditional orchard west of the city near Stony Plain. In our first few years, we will be working with some great growers in the Okanagan while our orchard grows!
Give Back to the Community
We turn fruit into funding! A portion of the proceeds from each cider will be donated back into the community. Learn more about our Community Ciders Charity Program.
